About Finelyspun

What this is

Audible collects three star ratings on every audiobook: Overall, Performance, and Story. Performance is the narration score. Audible shows it per title but never aggregates it by narrator. Finelyspun does. We rank 213 narrators by their performance rating so you can find who to listen to next.

How the score is computed

For each narrator we take every title we have data for and compute a rating-count-weighted average of its Performance rating. A title with 50,000 ratings counts more than a title with 50. The same method produces the Story and Overall averages shown on each profile.

In plain terms: multiply each title's rating by its number of ratings, add those up, then divide by the total number of ratings. This rewards narrators who are consistently rated well across a large body of work, not a single lucky title.

What it takes to be ranked

A narrator needs at least 1,000 total performance ratings and at least 5 audiobooks to appear on the leaderboard. The ratings floor stops an obscure 5.0 title from topping the board; the catalog floor stops a one-off performance from outranking a narrator with a full career. Narrators below either bar still have a profile page, they are just not ranked.

Data source

Ratings and title metadata come from Audible. Numbers reflect the data at the time each profile was last generated and can change as new ratings come in. We do not collect reviews or accept user-generated ratings.
